Project Launch or Execution

This is the phase of the project where deliverables are developed and completed. This is the meat of the project since a lot is happening during this time, like status reports and meetings, development updates, and performance reports. A “kick-off” meeting usually marks the start of the Project Execution phase where the project is discussed with the teams involved.

Project Management Controls

Project controls include such functions as estimating, planning and scheduling, cost control, risk analysis, and various reporting functions. While these controls have been proven to be effective in providing cost benefits to projects, each organization must decide upon an appropriate project controls strategy and plan so as not to pay more for the controls than the benefits they deliver.

A properly conceived and implemented project controls strategy and plan will provide significant benefits to any project, regardless of project type, risk, contracting strategy, organizational strategy, or dollar value.
